Atari VCS Possibly Adding Xbox Game Pass Support
The theatre VCSThe console is not on everyone’s radar. This throwback videogame system is a throwback from the 1970s and the 1977 Atari Video Computer System console. TheAtari VCSThe “Atari Mode”, which offers more than 100 classic Atari games and the “PC Mode,” allows users to create their own unique device for homebrew or emulation. Atari clearly targets a diverse audience, explaining why Atari may allow Xbox Cloud Gaming on its Atari VCS.
Atari recently released a press release about its “Annual Results 2020/2021,” It discussed its plans for Atari VCS. Atari’s future plans for changes and additions to the Atari VCS were highlighted in a bullet point. It mentioned the support for cloud-based game streaming services. For example, Atari listed Google Stadia, GeForce Now, Amazon Luna, and also Xbox. This means that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will soon be able to stream games on Atari VCS.
Atari also plans to provide “direct access” for cloud gaming services. This is a notable aspect of the report. What that means is offering an official means of accessing services like Xbox Cloud Gaming. It could be that Atari VCS users will have an official supported app they can download instead of using the homebrew mode on the system. The app would have to be created and released by Xbox. Atari would therefore need their support.
With that in mind, Xbox has already said that it wants to bring Xbox Game Pass via cloud gaming to as many platforms as it’s able. Although the Atari VCS might not have been the plan, it did say that it was open to supporting platforms that were not part of its original plan.
Cloud streaming service users should be equally excited. There are still a lot of video game fans using Stadia, GeForce Now, and Luna, too. Each brings something unique to the table. Atari VCS would be able to get a new range of exciting games through Xbox Game Pass.
Atari VCS is still pursuing support for cloud gaming services such as Xbox’s Game Pass Ultimate subscription. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that it will happen. Atari VCS is still an unproven device, and business relationships can be complicated. But if Atari VCS owners really want to see Xbox Game Pass via the cloud on their consoles, now would be a good time to tell both Atari and Xbox to make that happen.
