Konami is apparently working again on Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Silent Hill

Video Games Chronicle reported top secret sources told them about recent developments at Japanese studio Konami. This includes new entries in Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Silent Hill franchises.

Konami has been largely abandoning the console gaming market in recent years, instead chasing Pachinko gambling yen. This was further complicated by the lackluster Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Contra releases, which all seemed to have no understanding of their properties, and were later met with anger from fans

What games is Konami creating?

Konami announced earlier this year a company reshuffle. They announced plans to collaborate with publishers and external developers on the relaunch of their AAA game production company with “a number key projects”.

Konami is rumored to be developing their own “reimagining of Castlevania” in Japan. Virtuos, the studio that worked on Switch versions Dark Souls Remastered and The Outer Worlds, is working on a project that may relate to Metal Gear Solid 3.

Silent Hill appears to be a very active franchise with multiple studios apparently working simultaneously , including Xbox Series X/S heavy-hitter The Medium’s developer Bloober team.

We hope Konami will take a greater care of their iconic properties with their return to AAA gaming development. We would love for people to react to “Konami” in a different way than “Konami doesn’t make any games anymore”. — that is what we want.
