BharatPe’s IT associate wrote to LinkedIn on April 6 that he and his fellow staffers hadn’t received March salaries. Grover responded by asking BharatPe about the matter. Aashima Grover, his sister, joined the conversation and described BharatPe’s top management as “shameless.” When Sameer replied, “Tere Bhai Ne Saara Paisa Chuura Liya” (your brother robbed all the money), the conversation turned around. There is very little money left to pay salaries. Later, Sameer apologized for his message.

When he wrote the reply, Grover claimed that Sameer was drunk and under the influence of drugs. He suggested that Sameer be placed on a leave of absence immediately.

“As a board of directors under the chairmanship Rajnish Kumar Suhail Sameer has claimed to be the epitome corporate governance. I’d like to know what the board will do against him. Based on precedents and the self-proclaimed high standards set by this board, Suhail Sameer should be served with a show cause notice for his deplorable public behavior and placed on leave immediately to manage the damage to the brand of the business,” read Grover’s letter to the board. ET has reviewed it.

He said that Sameer replied ‘in the early hours of April 7, after a night of drunken debauchery at BharatPe’s offsite in Goa.

Grover demanded that Rajnish Kumar, BharatPe’s board chairman and veteran banker, be resigned. He stated that the current management believes they have the ‘carte Blanche from the board and its chair to target him (Grover) and his family.

Rajnish Kumar, chairman, should resign immediately. This incident demonstrates that Rajnish Kumar, who condones the death threat I made by Bhavikkoladiya at his home, and all the media leaks that led to my resignation in self-respect, has further empowered the current management to be hooligans …”. Grover added. ET reported that Grover, BharatPe’s Investors Sequoia capital, BeeNext, and Shashvat Nakrani had purchased Koladiya’s stake in the company.

Grover wrote Friday that he believed it was also proof that the chairman failed to investigate the Suhail allegations in his governance review.

Bharat could not be reached immediately for comment.

Grover had previously written to the board in February a letter in which he attacked Kumar, claiming that the honest governance review was a “facade” and “riddled in premeditation and biases.”
