Avto.ru reports that Toyota Motor Corporation and Volkswagen AG topped a list of companies with the highest debts, based on the Janus Henderson international study.
The list includes nearly 900 companies. Only the largest are included. Net debt is not included in the list. This means that the remaining debts will not be paid if there is no cash or liquid assets that can quickly be sold.
Toyota was responsible for $186 billion of debt, while Volkswagen had $185 billion. Mercedes-Benz ranks sixth with $109 billion of debt.
In January 2022, Toyota was ranked 12th in the top 500 most valuable companies in the world by Brand Finance, an international rating agency. Mercedes-Benz took the second spot, while Tesla took the third.
