XPS 13 Plus (9320): Big upgrade for Dell’s premium notebooks

Dell has upgraded its premium notebook XPS 13 to a higher specification. The new “Plus” model will not only use new Intel processors but also features new input devices with small gaps and hidden touchpads. The Dell XPS 13 family is a good alternative to the Apple MacBook Air (Windows segment). It only received a new design last season. The annual upgrade program is now available at CES 2020. It focuses not only on the most popular updates to processors and graphics units but also on other important features. This year, the US manufacturer will be focusing on minimalistic and revised input devices.

New design for the keyboard, function keys, and touchpad

The new Dell XPS 13 Plus (9320), which is similar to the Concept Luna, uses a nearly gap-free keyboard. It’s distributed to the very edge of the metal case and down to the last millimeter. According to the company, the “zero-lattice design” is the abdication of the traditional keyboard grid or bed. This allowed Dell to increase the size of the individual keys as well as expand the hub. The XPS 13 also relies on capacitive function keys (touch) this year. This evokes at least some memories of Apple’s Touch Bar. The touchpad on the Dell XPS 13 Plus has been extensively redesigned. It is embedded into the palm rest and does not have any visible restrictions. The manufacturer has yet to disclose the area that is sensitive. Piezomotors were used to implement an improved haptic feedback.

New Intel Alder Lake P CPUs, DDR5 RAM, and OLED panels

Dell’s performance relies on Intel 12th generation Alder Lake P processors. These include the Intel Core i5-1240P Core i7-1260P Core i7-1260P Core i7-1260P Core i7-1260P Core i7-1260P and -1270P. The top model can use a maximum of 14 cores. This includes six efficiency and performance cores. The top model also features the Intel Iris Xe Graphics and up to 32 GB DDR5RAM as well as up to 2 TB PCIe 4.0 SATA SSDs. There are many LCD and OLED options available in the 13.4 inch format. Resolutions range from FullHD up to 4K, and most importantly, touchscreens. Additional features include two Thunderbolt4 ports, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, as well as a 15 millimeter high Dell XPS 13 Plus (9320), which weighs in at 1.3 kg and has a total weight of approximately 1.3 kilograms. The battery has a rating of 55 watt hours (Wh). It can be charged to 80 percent in under an hour with Express Charge 2.0, which can hold up to 60 watts. However, the webcam is still limited to a resolution of 720p.

Pricing and availability for Dell XPS 13 Plus (9320).

The new Dell XPS 13 will go on sale in the US this spring for 1199 US Dollars before taxes. Prices starting at 1399 euros in Germany would be reasonable. The German Dell subsidiary has not yet made an official statement.
