Insider programs are used to test new features in the operating system. Individual apps are also periodically updated and tested. Microsoft now has updates for the media player and camera as well as Movies & TV.
Although Windows 11 Media Player is still relatively new, Microsoft has made an updated version available to users starting in fall 2021. The program also had to wait a while before it was able to perform some of the most important functions. For example, the media player is only able play CDs from March. Good Microsoft has announced that the functionality regarding compact discs will expand and that CD ripping support will be available from version 11.2206.30.0. This release supports music saving to files on the PC in AAC, WMA and FLAC formats.
Microsoft also announced an update for the camera app. Version number 2022.2206.2.0 has been released. The new look and feel for the camera app is Windows 11. The camera app supports all existing modes: video, whiteboard, document and camera. It also supports scanning QR codes or barcodes.
Movies and TV
Movies & TV (version 10.22061) will also be updated. First, native Arm64 support will be added to the application, which should allow for faster and more efficient performance on corresponding devices. The local view and its file type mappings will migrate to the media player. If you wish to play video files from your hard drive, the Media Player will now open automatically and not Movies & TV.
