A man was recently arrested by Guangzhou police for stealing chips from the base stations. The story was detailed by local media.

The alarm system of a telecommunications company confirmed that the Nanshi area’s base stations had been damaged in the early hours of July 7. Communications in the area were then cut off. A telecommunications company conducted an investigation and found that eight modules worth more than $45,000 from the base stations were missing.

The police discovered that the suspect was familiar with the equipment’s location and settings during the investigation. Wu Moumu, who was taken into custody on July 8, was arrested. He said that he received about $900 from equipment sales, which he used to gamble.

He also stated that he had used his previous knowledge of base stations. The court has yet to decide the right amount of restraint.
