Xiaomi has suffered the most, but Samsung and Apple are on horseback. Smartphone market statistics showed what people choose during the crisis

Canalys analysts summarized the results for the second quarter 2022 in the smartphone industry. This period saw a 9% decline in the market.

Global shipments dropped to 287 million devices. This is the lowest number in the past two years. Samsung is still the market leader, with 21% of global shipments and 61.8 millions smartphones sold. The company also saw a 6% increase in sales, which is quite impressive considering the market’s decline.

Apple increased its shipments by 8% to 49.5 million smartphones. This makes Apple 17% of the global market. Xiaomi finishes in the top three, with 39.6 millions smartphones sold and 14% of the market. Here, Xiaomi sales fell 25%

They fell even more for the other top five companies: Oppo, Vivo and Vivo. Deliveries fell by 22%, 19% and 25.3 million units, respectively. Other companies had 29% of the market, while total sales for all other companies fell 10%.

In general, Apple and Samsung won over buyers in a declining market.
