NASA made it possible to find out how your voice sounds on Mars

NASA launched a new service to allow you to hear your voice on Mars. Although the atmosphere on Mars is quite different from the Earth’s, there won’t be any major changes.

Scientists believe Mars will make voices sound muffled and quieter than Earth’s. Mars is almost impossible to hear high-pitched sounds like whistling and birdsong.

NASA explained that these characteristics cause the differences in temperature and atmosphere on Mars. Mars’ average surface temperature is -63degC. This means that Mars travels slower than Earth, at 240 m/s. This is particularly noticeable at long distances.

Martian atmosphere is also 100 times thinner than Earth’s and 96% carbon dioxide. Because of this, the sound will be muffled more than usual.

Check your vote here. Record brief audio or video, and then the system will process it. You can then listen online to the sound or download it to your computer.
