The countdown has begun: before the “death” of Windows 8.1 is not long, and Microsoft figured out how to force users to change the system

Microsoft plans to discontinue support for Windows 8.1. Although this will occur on January 10, 2023 the system will continue to display messages warning of the impending end to updates.

 

Microsoft also announced that the Microsoft 365 cloud service, which includes Word and Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, Teams and OneNote as well as Visio, Teams and Visio, will cease to work on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2008 R2 on January 10, 2023.

Microsoft 365 Apps is no longer supported on these operating systems. However, customers still receive security updates through ESU programs. These operating systems will also be affected by this program, which will end on January 10, 2023. Access to security updates will also be lost. Additionally, applications can no longer be installed on Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2008 R2.

The Windows 8.1 OS will still be available after January 10, however, there will not be any security updates. The Metro app store for this OS will cease to be available in July 2023.
